I remember he came back one night without shoes and a shirt because there were kids outside that were cold. He would literally give the shirt off his back. That’s the kind of person he was,” Tendick says.

Remembering the Coast

The University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication annually attend the, “Media in Ghana” six week internship where faculty and students have the opportunity to intern at various media establishments — also traveling to Africa’s Coast. Students and faculty come face to face with Africa’s enslavement history and its connection to the U.S. from the African perspective.
