From backstage, Eugene Ballet Company’s Cinderella seems like just another ballet. Once you’re sitting in the green cushions facing the stage, however, the beloved fairy tale comes spectacularly to life with Jennifer Martin, the Company’s principal dancer, lighting up the stage as Cinderella.
The show ran in Eugene Saturday, October 16th and Sunday, October 17th. The classic tale kept mostly to the original story with music by Sergei Prokofiev, but some twists were thrown in. There was of course the prince, fairy godmother, and evil stepmother, but the two ugly stepsisters were ugly indeed with men, Marc Siegel and Eugene Ballet’s Petr Orlov, dancing both characters.
The show is also playing this upcoming Friday, October 22nd in Corvallis. Tickets are available through the Hult Center Box Office.
